Support Officer - Older People - Enhanced DBS Required - Coalville, Leicestershire
My local authority client are looking for a Support Officer to join their Coalville offices on a full time and temporary basis working Monday - Friday [Admin: Removed] from as soon as possible for around 6 weeks (with the potential for extension if required), paying £11.00 per hour.

You must have a DBS, to have been run within the last 12 months, and a driving licence with access to your own vehicle in order to be considered for this position.

The purpose of the role is to assess needs and provide support to elderly people in a way that promotes their independence, dignity, security and rights. You will coordinate the provision of care from specialist agencies, and ensure that appropriate health, social and well-being services are provided at sheltered housing schemes, and that effective liaison is maintained with housing management and maintenance.

You will undertake around 20-30 visits per day.

Further duties and responsibilities will include:
- Assessing the needs of residents and constantly reviewing written support plans to reflect those needs
- Developing a relationship of trust and confidence with each tenant
- Facilitating the provision of the right level of care or support
- Liaising with hospitals as required
- Advising residents on the availability of local statutory, private and voluntary services and organisations, and on their rights to those services
- Encouraging users to help each other and to promote the help of friends and relatives
- Maintaining and keeping up to date case files including all support plans and correspondence
- Taking the lead in facilitating the design and organisation of social, health and well-being services in assigned schemes
- Maintaining links with housing and maintenance officers to ensure a seamless housing service for each resident

To be considered for the role, you must:
- Have an enhanced DBS dated within the last year/on the update service
- Be a driver with access to your own vehicle
- Have experience of working with older people in a professional caring environment
- Have experience of working/advocating with external and internal partners
- Have experience of dealing with the public face to face
- Have experience of working directly with clients/residents obtaining the right level of care for them
- Have knowledge of the priorities for the developing of the service for older people
- Be able to communicate effectively and efficiently
- Be self motivated and enthusiastic
- Be able to deal with stressful and emotional situations
- Be able to complete basic numerical calculations and have good written communication
